Acupuncture
Acupuncture is an ancient form of traditional Chinese medicine where tiny needles are inserted into specific pressure points on the body, each to varying depths, to relieve pain and certain health conditions.
Even though it is not entirely clear to this day how acupuncture works scientifically, what is known (according to experts) is that it balances the body’s vital energy, having a neurological effect, so to speak.

Acupuncture has been used for many years to cure different kinds of pain, such as that experienced from headaches, whooping cough, blood pressure, etc.
What symptoms does acupuncture help?

How does acupuncture work?
During the procedure, your acupuncturist or practitioner will insert fine needles into specific parts of the body, depending on the pain relief you require. The insertion causes little to no discomfort whatsoever.
Acupuncture involves a blend of Eastern and Western methods of healing medicine. To determine what style of treatment is ideal for you, your practitioner will examine you, which may include:
This initial evaluation may take anywhere between 30 and 60 minutes, although subsequent appointments should take no more than 30 minutes or so. The total number of acupuncture treatments required will depend on the kind of pain you want to get treated for and its severity. Generally speaking, most people typically require between 6-8 treatments.
During the treatment, you will be asked to lie on a padded table so that your practitioner can determine the areas where the needles will be inserted. Each acupuncture needle is inserted at a varying depth throughout the body. At any given time, you may have 5-20 needles inserted at any given time, depending on the target site and the degree of pain from which you want to find relief.
Once all the needles are inserted, your practitioner will manipulate them by gently twirling them or even applying mild electrical pulses, if required. Then, as you lay still and relax, your practitioner will work their magic, and after about 10-20 minutes, your practitioner will remove the needles.
Acupuncture patients have reported feeling anywhere from extremely relaxed to energised following treatment. In a few weeks, your pain symptoms should improve consistently, although if they don’t, it may indicate a specific medical condition requiring urgent attention.
